LEO Systems Design & Modelling Co-op (September 2024 - April 2025)

Under the guidance of senior technical staff, the Systems Design and Modelling Intern will support development of the Lightspeed constellation System Model and assist in performing system-engineering analyses.  This is a 8 month position.

Main Responsibilities

  • Use state-of-the-art modeling techniques and software tools (using Matlab) to assist in the development of the Lightspeed constellation System Model.
  • Refactor existing codebase to improve readability and maintainability
  • Prepare and perform system simulations to characterize the system in terms of achievable throughput, system capacity, end-to-end latency, resource cost, link or throughput availability, interference constraints or impairments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate and compare alternative resource allocation algorithms and strategies
  • Document analyses and findings in the form of technical presentations and reports

Education & Experience Required

  • 3rd Electrical, computer or system engineering, from an accredited Canadian University
  • Proficiency with MATLAB programming
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Written and verbal skills in English 
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
