There’s no more exciting industry than space today, and no better company in that industry to work for than Telesat. For the second straight year, Telesat has been selected as a National Capital Region’s Top Employer for 2025 by Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizers of the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.
The National Capital Region’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes employers in the Ottawa-Gatineau area that provide exceptional places to work. The Top Employers project team identifies several reasons Telesat was selected to receive the designation, including comprehensive benefits packages starting from day one of employment and financial incentives. They also note that much of the growth and excitement comes from Telesat Lightspeed, our next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation that will revolutionize connectivity worldwide.
Telesat’s Stephen Hampton, Senior Director, Telesat Government Affairs and Strategic Accounts, explains why working at Telesat today is such a unique and rewarding opportunity:
“It’s probably the most exciting and disruptive time in the history of the satellite sector. There aren’t many opportunities to get in on the ground floor and help shape it. Every day I get to go to work with truly world-class people and learn from them, engage with them and solve big problems with them. If you look at the work that we’re doing and the progress we’re making on the Telesat Lightspeed program, it speaks volumes to that team we’re building here.”
In addition to being recognized in Canada, Via Satellite, one of the leading news outlets for the global satellite communications industry, recognized Telesat as one of the 10 hottest companies in the sector last year.
We’re continuously moving onwards and upwards
We appreciate these accolades and are proud to be recognized in these ways, but we will never rest on our laurels. Telesat has been innovating since the dawn of the space age, and in 1972 became the first commercial company in the world to place a domestic communications satellite into orbit. Today, Telesat Lightspeed is creating hundreds of high-quality jobs in the National Capital Region, supporting the largest space project in Canadian history.
In addition to dramatically increasing our workforce in Canada and across the globe, Telesat is helping to develop the next generation of space innovators through our marquee scholarship programs and paid co-op positions.
